Scappoose has been my home for that last eight years. I have been teaching and coaching soccer at SHS for the last 10 + Years.
When I left Maine to come visit the west coast in 1995, my family thought I would be coming back. I have been in Oregon ever since. My love for wild places and open spaces have kept me here. I started out as an Interpretive Park Ranger and Field Ornithologist after finishing a masters in Environmental Education in Ashland Oregon. After several years of seasonal work I realized I needed more stability. My path brought me to Portland and back to school to get a masters in teaching. Here I am, still, teaching and coaching at SHS.
Soccer is one of my passions. I play on two soccer teams and plan to head to Japan in 2021 to play in my third World Masters Games. My second passion is spending time outside in the wilds. Trail runnning, skiing, and mountain biking keep me busy during school breaks.
Last summer I took students to Honduras for two weeks of field studies in the Cloud Forest and scuba diving in the coral reefs off the coast of Utila. I would love to continue to connect students to some of our remaining beautiful endangered habitats around the world.
