The Scappoose School District wants to provide college and career readiness support to all students as they plan their futures after high school. One way to determine student preparedness is through assessment. As a result, on Tuesday, February 25th, 2020 all Juniors will have the opportunity to take the ACT® test with writing. On the same day, all Sophomores will take the Pre-ACT and all Freshmen will take Pre-ACT 8/9. Seniors will not have school on February 25th.
The ACT tests are curriculum-based and cover learning content for all students based on their academic strengths in English, mathematics, reading, science, and writing. Your child’s score report will help determine his or her academic readiness for college. In addition, the score report will also provide career guidance based on your child’s responses to the Student Profile Section and Interest Inventory questions.
For more information about the ACT please visit https://www.act.org/content/act/en/students-and-parents.html
For more information about the Pre ACT please visit https://www.act.org/content/act/en/products-and-services/preact/preact-classroom.html
Note: Your child will not need to register for this test.
Together, the Scappoose School District and ACT will support your child in making plans for college and a career after high school.
In case of inclement weather conditions, the Scappoose School District will either start school with a 2-hour delay or completely cancel school. Busses will be delayed 2 hours. For example, if your child usually gets picked up at 7:35 am the bus should be at your stop at 9:35 am.
If the weather does not improve within the 2-hour delay the remainder of the school day may be canceled. The decision to have a 2-hour delay or cancel school will be communicated through Scappoose School District’s School Messenger phone system. Each family with an active phone number will receive a call and email. Please let the school office know if there have been any changes to your contact information.
Cancellation information will also be available via FlashAlert and your local news station. If school is canceled, all after school activities are canceled. The decision to delay or cancel school will apply to every school in the Scappoose School District.
